After 23 years of encouraging and applauding independent writers and presses in Canada, we regret to announce that the ReLit Awards will be on hiatus.
The ReLit Awards were founded in order to shine a light on independent presses and writers who were being overlooked by other awards and press agencies.
We are encouraged to see that independent presses now have a higher profile, and hope that we have played some small part in that good news.
Our three years of applications to funding agencies were unsuccessful, while other funding opportunities did not present themselves. We have been operating as volunteers, more or less, since our inception, but with the new infrastructure of ReLit Literary Group this has become impossible.
As we seek funding opportunities, the awards will be cancelled until further notice.
The 2023 ReLit Awards will go ahead as planned, with the long-shortlist announcement coming soon.
